Launch.com also reporting that Britney Spears’s Oops!… I Did It Again Tour 2000 kicks off tonight (June 20) at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Merriweather Post Pavilion in Columbia, Maryland. Spears told LAUNCH that she is both a little nervous and a little excited about performing at tonight’s tour opener.
“I know with my first show I’ll be really, really nervous because it will be my first show! There will be a lot of kinks that we’ll have to work out and stuff like that, but after a while — after I just keep performing and I get really comfortable with a show — I don’t really get nervous,” she said. “I just get a good energy going through my body when I hear the audience screaming. I just get excited — I get really, really excited. But the first show I’m really, really nervous, and there’s nothing you can do about it. But sometimes, when you’re the most nervous, you have the best shows.”
Spears told LAUNCH that this tour will differ from her first tour in support of …Baby One More Time. “There’s a lot more pyro. There’s a lot more gadgets going on, and it’s just a fun show,” said Spears. “There’s a lot more sets and stuff like that.”
Spears also informed LAUNCH that any reports of her lip-syncing on tour are absolutely false, but she understands why her fans may get that impression after seeing her perform live. “Really, on the first tour that I did and the second tour, when I had the big screen up ahead of me, there was a delay of what’s actually happening on the stage, so I think that was confusing them and they were thinking that I was lip-syncing. But no, I’m never lip-syncing,” she said. “There’s times in the choruses when they up the background vocals and it helps me out, but I’m singing my ass off!”
